Nobuild Shaders and Surfaceparms

Tremulous supports a few specific shaders apart from the common set, these shaders use special surfaceparms that need the map to be compiled with -custinfoparms in the q3map2 command line for them to be recognized by the engine.

Nobuild Shaders

The common-trem shader script includes three nobuild shaders:

  • nobuild
  • noalienbuild
  • nohumanbuild
These shaders use contents nobuild surfaceparms, meaning that for them to work correctly the nobuild brush has to be big enough to enclose the buildable you want to be prevented.

Nobuild Surfaceparms

Tremulous also features nobuildsurface, noalienbuildsurface and nohumanbuildsurface surfaceparms, which prevents building in the face of the brush thats has the shader, these are not currently used in official maps though.
